The tin iv selenide formula, also known as stannous selenide, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula SnSe2. It is a typical layered metal chalcogenide that contains a group 16 anion (Se2) and an electropositive element (Sn2+).

It is a typical narrow band-gap (IV-VI) semiconductor structurally analogous to black phosphorus. This type of semiconductor is a good choice for low-cost photovoltaics and memory-switching devices.

This layered material can be obtained via mechanical or liquid exfoliation of single crystals to produce monolayer and few-layer SnSe2 thin films with an impressive optical absorption spectral range. It has also been successfully incorporated into nanoscale and microscale devices as a photoconductive material to produce efficient gas sensors, batteries, field-effect transistors, spintronics devices etc.

We provide tin iv selenide in the form of bulk single crystals, powder and nanoparticles to satisfy your needs for any number of application areas. Tin iv selenide is most commonly used as a source from which monolayer and few-layer SnSe2 can be easily achieved by either mechanical or liquid exfoliation.

Our tin iv selenide powder is a good choice for liquid chemical exfoliation of SnSe2 nanosheets and nanoparticles to achieve very few-layer SnSe2 materials. It is a good fit for applications requiring the highest efficiencies from any of the nanocrystalline SnSe2 layers, such as photovoltaics or conductive inks.
