Molybdenum disilicide heating elements are used to provide high temperatures in laboratory furnaces. They are also known for their longevity and durability at high temperatures.

For this reason, these are used in a variety of applications. A wide range of shapes and grades are available to suit your requirements.

MoSi2 elements offer the longest inherent life of any electric heating element. They are corrosion resistant and can withstand temperatures up to 1900 degC. However, they are highly brittle at lower temperatures. Therefore, they should be supported with insulating materials with a high temperature rating.

MoSi2 elements are normally coupled to mains through an isolation transformer. However, they are also used in vacuum environments. In these atmospheres, the METs of these elements are significantly higher than those of SiC elements.

There are several shapes and grades available for MoSi2 heating elements. The most common type is the 90-degree bent U-Shape. However, the elements can also be manufactured in other shapes. These include the straight terminal shape and the U-shaped heating elements.

Some of the newer types of MoSi2 elements are designed to operate at extremely high temperatures with changing atmospheres. This means that they can be used in a range of industrial furnaces.

Nevertheless, a few other factors should be considered when choosing MoSi2 heating elements. Firstly, the power required for the heater must be appropriately designed. If the power is not proportional, it may cause damage to the heating element.
